Teacher: Mrs. Gubbiotti
SUBJECT : Assignments, upcoming classroom events, educational links, email link, and more.
Dear Parents,
I want to welcome you and your child to my website at Judson School. I reside with my husband here in Watertown and am proud of my two children, Father Jeff and Jenny, who have been educated in the Watertown School System and have grown to serve their communities well. I have two beautiful grandchildren, Ethan and Emily who I enjoyed playing with this past summer.
This is my sixteenth year teaching in Watertown, and I am excited to share our experiences together in third grade. I believe that good and lasting habits must be started in these most important formative years. Please help me with this goal, by reminding our children to record homework assignments daily in class. The assignment pads are purchased by our PTA. To further help, homework is always written in the same place everyday on the board. Now, responsibility can be nurtured and this site could be used as a reference and support system for homework, long-term assignments, and upcoming classroom/school events.
*Please sign and return all graded papers so that you can see what we are studying in class. You can monitor and support your child's individual needs at home as well. Signed papers returned by students, will be filed and sent back home at the beginning of each marking period. Thank you for your cooperation in this effort to communicate student progress on a regular basis. Parents can always reach me during regular school hours with any concerns and I will be happy to return your call as soon as possible. You may also me at gubbiotticy@watertownps.org . A note can also be sent in with your child.
I look forward to working with you and your child as we strive for a successful, happy, and fun learning experience. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Cindy Gubbiotti

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
In LANGUAGE ARTS, we will be working on sentence structure, editing, and punctuation skills. Many varied opportunities will be given to the children as they learn valuable reading skills from Nancy Boyles, Fountas and Pinnell, and Lucy Calkins, through the use of guided reading techniques and the Storytown Program. Using the 6 strategies:picturing, guessing, connecting, noticing, figuring, and wondering to promote the pure joy of reading, is fostered in class as well. You will hear vocabulary such as CLOZE, robust vocabulary, and editing and revising. We work on how to answer open-ended sentences using information from the story to justify our answers. Mrs. Stepka helps us sharpen our reading skills. We are lucky to have literacy volunteers come to help as well.
In SOCIAL STUDIES, We will be starting our Natural Resources unit.
In MATH, we are working on our fractions unit. The students must master times tables 2,3,4, 5 and 10. PLEASE REVIEW DAILY. Remember ...reviewing basic addition and subtraction facts daily is important all the time , and we want to be ready to play "Bus Stop" at any time! Don't forget to go on my website and click on links to practice CMT objectives throughout the year!
In SCIENCE, we have completed our habitats unit and a class project.
