Snowy Day

By,

Ethel Jacobson

A snowy day has a special grace

Flakes whirling,

Softly swirling,

Lightly floating,

Whitely coating

Every leafless woodland bower.

Willow stumps along the lake

Are frosted like a wedding cake.

How magically made, each flake

Patterned lovely as a flower

Or a star,

Falling far

From a burdened cloud!

Every twig and branch is bowed

With petals of this airy stuff,

This delicate, this fairy stuff

Scudding, skipping,

Dancing, dipping,

Flakes caress my upturned face.

A snowy day has a special grace.
