What's a Flex Period?
What is Flex?
Flex is a 40 minute period that occurs daily from 9:58 to 10:39 for every student in the school. Flex gives you an opportunity to work on class work, similar to a study hall. It also gives you an opportunity to meet with a specific teacher of a course that you may need additional help in or need to make up missed work.
Why do we have flex?
Often students’ and teachers’ schedules can conflict. This gives teachers time to work with specific students to help them be more successful in class.
How do I use a flex pass?
- 1. Ask the teacher for extra help.
2. The teacher will give you a flex pass, with a specific day to come see him/her.
3. Keep your pass in a safe place and bring it to your flex room on the day of your appointment.
4. After announcements, present your flex pass to me.
5. Report directly to the teacher that assigned you the pass. Bring any materials you may need.
6. Be productive, ask questions, complete assignments and if you need more help-ask for another flex pass for next time.
7. The teacher will record if you reported to him/her for help and what you accomplished.
8. Remain with that teacher until the end of the flex period.
What should I bring to flex?
Come prepared. You should bring any course work that you plan to work on for the day including binders, books, notebooks, writing utensils, assignments, etc. If you have a pre-signed flex pass to see a teacher, you must bring it or you will not be allowed to report to that teacher. You may also want to bring something to read. It is expected that you will be using this time productively and efficiently.
Can I go anywhere else?
No passes will be issued during flex. Report to your locker and the lav before flex. An escort may be called for emergency purposes only.
