WHS Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement Courses at Watertown High School

Students at WHS currently have the opportunity to complete Fourteen A.P. or Advanced Placement courses.  Each course has its own prerequesites as defined in the Program of Studies.  Advanced Placement courses provide the opportunity for high school students to complete college level coursework and potentially receive college credit.  The curriculum presented is audited and approved by the College Board.  The awarding of college credit depends on student peformance on the College Board exam in May.

Standards for credit vary from one college to another.  A.P. test scores range from 1 to 5.  A score of 3 or better is passing.

If you would like to learn more about AP classes at Watertown High School, contact Mrs. Chunis in the Counseling Department for more information regarding the fees and testing schedule at WHS.  Sign up in Guidance by January 21st.  The fee is $89/exam and will be paid by the students this year.  If there is a financial hardship, the student should discuss the matter with his or her counselor.

All AP students are expected to take the exam in May.
