We Remember Some Remarkable Recent Past Events in WHS Sports.
On Saturday, May 26th, the WHS boys lacrosse team defeated Lewis Mills 8-4 to claim the inaugural Western Connecticut Lacrosse Conference (WCLC) title.
After a disappointing regular season, the boys entered the WCLC tournament with nothing to lose and everything to gain. A 9-1 dispatching of Housatonic in the semifinal gave the team a big boost of confidence heading into the final. Once there, the boys took an early lead and never gave it up.
Hunter Guidess led the Indians offense with a first-half hat trick and Albion Lumani made a number of big saves in goal for Watertown.
Congratulations to the boys and coaches Brian Major and Darren Mallette on another championship for WHS!

The tennis team finished the regular season at 11-6 to enter the NVL Tournament as the #6 seed. Once there, they knocked off #3-seeded Torrington, #2-seeded Naugatuck, and #1-seeded St. Paul to claim the NVL title, the first in the history of the school.

Golf News.
WATERTOWN -- If we didn't know it already, it's a certainty now: Watertown is the front-runner in the race for the Naugatuck Valley League golf championship.
The Indians had a dazzling afternoon on a chilly Wednesday at Crestbrook Park. Led by junior Eddie Hill, Watertown (7-0, 2-0 NVL) handed two-time defending champion Wolcott its first conference defeat since 2010, 164 to 188. The last time Wolcott lost, it was also to Watertown.
Most every golfer played in shorts, and they all shivered their way around Crestbrook's par-36 back nine. Except Hill. He sizzled with a 1-under-par round of 35. Hill hit every green and made eight pars. The lone exception was 17, where he made his only birdie of the day on what was probably his toughest putt. He sank a 27-foot downhill bender.
See this video link. Joe Palladino's Coverage in Waterbury-Republican American.
The Watertown Golf Team finished the season winning the NVL Tournament. This win clinched the Tournament title and the League title also. The Watertown Golf Team was also the Brass Division Champs. Next up will be the state tournament at Timberlin Golf Club on Monday June 4th.
Congratulations to Derek Bizier, Eddie Hill, Jamey Magas, Chris Spagnoletti, Steve Froese, and Coach Rick Valletta.
