Amber Calzone has been chosen as the October Sophomore Student of the Month and Destiny Laone has been recognized as the October Freshman Student of the Month.  Both have been awarded gift cards to Barnes and Noble in recognition of their academic success.

Theodore Rogozinski has been honored at this month’s Music Student of the Month. He recently placed in the top twelve at the New England Regionals Band Competition and he won an award for it. He was the first trumpet player in the history of Watertown High School to place in this competition. He is currently considering minoring in music because he enjoys playing. The advice he would give to any music student is: “Practice to make yourself happy, not to make the teacher happy.”

AP exams are administered in May each year by the College Board.  Exams scores range from 1--5 with 3 or higher considered passing.  The AP curriculum is set by the College Board and students may earn college credit depending on their score and their college's individual criteria.  AP work is among the most rigorous course work taken by high school students nationwide.

Watertown is pleased to announce 74 CAPT Scholars for the 2011.  

The CAPT exam is given in March to all sophomores at Watertown High as part of the state of Connecticut's annual educational assessment.  All 74 students have scored goal or better.

In this cadre of students there are 14 students who have achieved fives (max score) in all areas of reading, mathematics, writing, and science and have earned the distinction of Advanced CAPT Scholars.  These students have set their mark quite high and achieved that mark and set the standard of excellence for all of our students in the school system.
