Bloodborne pathogens, or BBP's, are serious viral infections that can make you very ill. They can be passed on to you if you're exposed to someone's infected blood or other body fluids containing visible blood. There's no way of knowing if anyone at your school is infected. Your best defense is understanding bloodborne pathogens and following established safety procedures.

The attached video link describes the three bloodborne pathogens putting you at greatest risk on the job, their transmission and ways to protect yourself and others at your school. It will also explain what to do if you believe you've been exposed.  All faculty and staff should view this video.  The school nurse available to answer any questions you may have.  Be patient with the video as it takes a minute or so to download.
