Watertown Public Schools is excited to welcome Charles “Chip” Schofield, our new Security/Residency Officer at John Trumbull, Polk and Judson. Ofc. Chip recently retired from the Naugatuck Police Department after 20 years of service. Throughout his law enforcement career, Ofc. Chip worked as a School Resource Officer for four years, served as a DARE Officer for six years and spent nine years as a Detective in the Youth Division.

The Security/Residency Officer is a new position for Watertown Public Schools. Last year, the Board of Education budgeted for security improvements which would provide an additional resource officer at Swift, a Security/Residency Officer to support elementary schools and an additional school psychologist to meet the needs of our primary school students. The hiring of Ofc. Chip, along with the new School Resource Officer assigned to Swift Middle School (Ofc. Donston), is just one of several ways that Administration is working to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff. The safety of our schools is a priority that the Watertown Public Schools takes very seriously and we are excited to have Ofc. Chip as a part of our team.
