Dear Watertown Public Schools Faculty, Families and Students,

Update on Capital Projects

As you know, the Watertown community passed our very important Capital School Projects request in November 2022. Since then we’ve successfully replaced the Swift MS turf field and the WHS turf field and track! Community members played a pivotal role in helping these projects move forward to completion.

Next Phase

It is my pleasure to share that we are now ready to embark on the next phase of our capital projects investments! As an update, I’d like to notify our community that our application to address the WHS roof and JTPS roof are now, as of March 8, officially submitted to the State of Connecticut’s Department of Administrative Services. Once our application is reviewed, we will be notified whether or not we can move forward with this very important facilities investment.

Roofs are investments that are typically addressed every 20 years or so and therefore this is an important moment for two of our largest buildings to finally get some much due attention ‘up top’!

If you would like to learn more about the many steps it takes to move large facilities/capital projects like this forward, please check out our School Capital Improvement Projects Website for photos, documents and information! I look forward to sharing another update soon.

Daylights Savings

This is a friendly reminder that clocks ‘Spring Forward’ this weekend! We gain one more hour of light….but perhaps lose one hour of sleep! Depends on which way you look at it.

Ramadan 2024

Beginning Sunday evening, the holy month of Ramadan will begin for our Muslim families. Ramadan is an important and pensive month for our Muslim families as they fast from dawn to sunset (16 hours) and reflect on traditions and tenets. During Ramadan there is a dedicated increase to charity and sharing foods with friends and neighbors after fasting.

Ramadan is a special time for reflection and self-improvement dedicated to goodness. Eid al-Fitr is the most anticipated holiday at the end of the month filled with festivities, fun and the sharing of gifts and foods with family and friends.

With much consideration to all of our Muslim colleagues, families, students and wider community members, we wish you an easy fast, joyful fellowship and good health.
