Watertown, CT - May 21, 2025- Lola Vaina wins first place for the Fifth Congressional District of Connecticut 2025 Congressional Art Competition!  She will receive plane tickets to D.C. to see her art displayed at the U.S. Capitol Building.

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in collaboration with the Congressional Institute. The competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

Congresswoman Jahana Hayes welcomed participation by high school students who attend schools in or live in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District. Vaina’s winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, as part of an exhibit with winners from around the country. Second place artwork will be displayed in the Congresswoman’s Washington D.C. Office, third place will be displayed for one year at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, and fourth place will be displayed in the Congresswoman's District Office.

All submissions were on exhibit at the Mattatuck Museum from April 5 - May 4, 2025.
