New Director of Food Services Announced

On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, the Watertown Board of Education approved Joanna Schipke as the new Food Service Director for Watertown Public Schools. Ms. Schipke is a Registered Dietitian who received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut. She went on to complete her dietetic internship at Keene State College. Joanna started her school nutrition career working with Hartford Public Schools in the Food and Child Nutrition Department. She also completed a year of service with Food Corps in New Britain Public Schools, where she provided nutrition education, cooking classes, and coordinated garden club programs. In her most recent position, she was employed with Chartwells K12, a school food service management company and provided nutrition support in Westport, Wilton, Region 9, and Ridgefield schools.

The Board of Education is thrilled to have Ms. Schipke join us on September 28 as the new Food Service Director for Watertown Public Schools. Although she is joining our district during a challenging time, she is bringing the knowledge and skills needed to provide ongoing support to our students and their families.
