Watertown Board of Education Welcomes New Member Mr. David Martin

Watertown, CT - February 13, 2023 - On Monday night the Watertown Board of Education welcomed their newest member, Mr. David Martin to fill the open seat left by Mr. Robert Makowski last month.

During Mr. David Martin’s 31-year career with the Waterbury Fire Department, he served in all rank capacities and served as Fire Chief for the final 8 years. He demonstrated forward thinking leadership in his role and successfully led multiple reorganization projects and several collective bargaining negotiations.

Since retiring, Mr. Martin has served as Executive Director of Northwest Connecticut Public Safety Communications and as Senior Director of Drew Marine before starting his own consulting firm, DJ Martin Associates.  

In addition he brings to the board a background in civic service and a strong commitment to his community and young people. He has served and continues to serve on the following non profit boards in a variety of capacities ranging from director/vice chairman to co-chair:

Waterbury Youth Services, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Waterbury, Francis Xavier Plaza, United Way of Greater Waterbury, St. Mary'sHospital Foundation, Palace Theater, Waterbury YMCA 2022. 

Mr. David Martin brings experience and dedication to his new commitment on the Watertown Board of Education.
