WHS Post High School Academy Partnership

What is the WHS Post High School Academy?

WHS is partnering with Post University to offer WHS students a dual enrollment opportunity to earn a post secondary certificate and/or Associate Degree concurrently to a H.S. Diploma.

What Certificates/Associates Degrees will be offered?

  • Certificate in Paralegal Studies (10 courses)

  • Associates Degrees in a variety of disciplines (20 courses)

How long is a HS Academy Course?

Each HS Academy course is 8 Weeks in duration if completed asynchronously. If the course is taught in person at WHS, the course is 16 weeks in duration. The asynchronous course requires students to commit to, on Avg. 15hrs/week = approx. 120 hrs/ course. Each course that is completed, whether asynchronously or in person is equivalent to 1 full HS credit/3 Post University credits. Students must pass the course according to Post University grading policies.

Who teaches a HS Academy Course?

Asynchronous HS Academy courses are all pre-designed through Blackboard and are independently completed by students over the course of 8-weeks. Any and all grading during the asynchronous courses is completed by Post University faculty/instructors according to Post University grading policies.

When will the HS Academy Course take place?

HS Academy courses will be taught during a ‘study hall/spare’ type period where students can come together in a space to independently complete their BB course requirements asynchronously. A WHS faculty member/staff will be present for supervisory duties.

How does a student become eligible for a HS Academy Course?

Rising 8th grade students will need strong grades or a 3.0 GPA*, a completed application to the program and a review by WHS administration and counselors. In addition, current WHS students may enroll in the HS Academy with a 3.0 GPA* and completed application.

Students who’s GPAs are slightly below 3.0 may still be considered with strong teacher recommendations. Please identify if this is the case in the application for building administration to coordinate with faculty regarding additional recommendations.
