It has been a busy and productive week for the Watertown Public Schools! With ESY and Summer Enrichment in full swing, our buildings are moving and grooving. Please see below for two important reminders regarding:

1. SUMMER MEALS BEGIN JULY 26

We are excited to offer grab-n-go meals this summer! Meal pick-up will be at Swift Middle School between 10-11am on Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning Tuesday July 26, 2022. Any child under the age of 18 is eligible for meals, even if they are not enrolled in Watertown Schools. All meals are free to students this summer. 

On Tuesdays, you will receive a 3-day bag with breakfast & lunch meals intended for consumption on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursdays, you will receive a 4-day bag with breakfast & lunch meals intended for consumption on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. 

If you intend in participating in the 2022 Summer Feeding Program, please fill out this brief survey so we can plan accordingly.

Hope to see many of you on Tuesday July 26th @ Swift Middle School between 10-11am.

2. COOLING STATIONS IN WATERBURY, THOMASTON AND TORRINGTON

See below for a message from the Greater Waterbury United Way regarding 'Cooling Stations'.

With forecasted temperatures in the mid-90s, Connecticut is activating its extreme hot weather protocol, which includes opening cooling centers across the state. If you are looking for a cooling center, call 2-1-1 or CLICK HERE to find a location. Additional Waterbury, Thomaston, Torrington, specific information can be found below. And remember to check any elderly or disabled friends, family or neighbors!

Cooling stations will be open at the following locations within the City of Waterbury: 

River-Baldwin Recreation Center, located at 135 East Liberty Street. Open Tuesday, July 19 – Saturday, July 23, 8:30 am – 8:30 pm. 

North End Recreation Center, located at 262 North Main Street. Open Tuesday, July 19 – Friday, July 22, 8:30 am – 8:30 pm, Saturday, July 23, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. 

Waterbury Senior Center, located at 1985 East Main Street, for seniors aged 60 & above only. Open Tuesday, July 19 – Friday, July 22, 9:00 am – extended hours. (Please call 203-574-6746 for questions about the Waterbury Senior Center)

Cooling station will be open at the following location within the Thomaston area: Updated on 7/19/2022. Local cooling center is available at Thomaston Ambulance Headquarters, 237 South Main St, Thomaston 06787, M-Sun: 10am-5pm. Cooling center is pet friendly and ADA compliant. 

  Cooling station will be open at the following location within the Torrington area: Updated 7/19/2022. Cooling centers are available from July 19-24 at: Torrington City Hall Auditorium, 140 Main Street, T,W: 8:30am-4pm, Th: 8:30am-6:30pm, F: 8:30am-12:30pm
